First Rule of self-tanning is Plan Ahead! So, if you are planning to self-tan, this text is a great start. Also, you are already aware that this is the healthier and risk-free option when it comes to getting a tan in a sunless way. Good for you! Now, get to know the whole process so you can enjoy excellent results that will last longer and give you the lush tan you want.
So, there are a few steps before you start applying the self-tan product.
Let’s start with those.
Step 1: Choose your spray tan products.
Products – one for the body and one for the face. If you want to get a dark tan fast, then we recommend that you try our Vani-T Rapid Velocity Mousse.
Vani-T Velocity Rapid Self-Tanning Mousse is the ultimate rich, ultra-dark formula that guarantees a flawless, streak-free tan in as little as 1 hour!
Made with natural ingredients and infused with Aloe Vera and Phytolin (Australian botanical), Velocity Rapid Self-Tanning Mousse will hydrate the skin and also prevent ageing and promote skin firming from the properties of Quandong, Australian Kakadu Plum Extract (Vitamin C) and Vitamins A & E.
For those who need a quick tan, this formulation can be washed off within 1 hour.
- 1 hour = Light Tan
- 2 hours = Medium Tan
- 3+ hours = Dark / Ultra Dark Tan
For the face, we recommend that you try the Vani-T Glow and Self Tan Drops that will transform your favourite face moisturiser into a self-tanning product. You can also increase the depth of colour of your VANI-T self-tan or spray tanning solution or add to your suntan oil to enhance melanin production and accelerate tanning results.
Step 2: Shave or depilate (thick) hair on places where you want to apply the self-tan mousse.
Because thick hair can really get in the way of you getting the streak-free bronze tan, you need to shave it off or depilate with your epilator. The self-tan must be distributed evenly and hair can prevent you from doing that.
Step 3: Exfoliate your skin thoroughly.
That is a must. You need to get rid of dead skin cells and flaky patches and then apply the self-tan mousse. Because the ingredients of the self tanning product react with the amino acids in the upper layers of your skin, exfoliation prompts that the uppermost layer is taken off and the tan will last much longer.
Make sure you exfoliate well the knees and elbows as the skin there is harder. These areas can darken a lot more than the rest of your body which will make it obvious that you are wearing fake tan.
Finally, moisturise your skin after exfoliation, especially if you have dry skin and allow it to be fully absorbed in the body before moving on to the application steps.
Now that you’ve prepped your skin for applying the self-tanning products, make sure that your skin is completely dried off. Also, no humidity is allowed in the room where you will apply the self-tan and make sure that in the next few hours you won’t be sweating. Sit a well-cooled room and just relax.
